Mugla University Clean Energy Research&Development Centre (MUTEK) was established in 1996. Fundamental studies on electrical, optical and structural properties of photovoltaic devices based on crystalline silicon as well as thin film ternary compounds are the major activities.

Muğla is located in south west of Turkey and yearly sum of global irradiation on the seasonally inclined surface in the region is exceeding 1900 kWh per square meter.
